Belly Dance with kirsty: EOI Closing 15 july 2022
Expressions of Interest OPEN
Kirsty, a long-term professional belly dancer is set to reinvigorate belly dance in Canberra presenting a beginner belly dance course open and accessible to all bodies! In partnership with Flazeda Alternate Dance Hub, Kirsty is giving away 5 free spots to attend two five week courses (x10 classes total).
Starting in mid July this beginner belly dance class is jammed packed with drills and exercises to form a solid foundation in belly dance technique while learning about the cultural legacy and music of Middle-Eastern belly dance.
The free classes, given to x5 lucky people, would take place on Wednesdays 6:00pm - 7:15pm at Flazeda in Belconnen (Unit 4, 68 Emu Bank) between 18 July and 21 August.
Bellydance has many known benefits (exercise, fitness, wellbeing - see https://www.worldbellydance.com/health-benefits-belly-dance/). And Kirsty is the perfect person to learn from, as Kirsty has over 15 years teaching and performing experience in belly dance with a background in cultural studies and anthropology allowing her to guide and mentor anyone through this culturally rich and diverse dance form.
Having recently returned from a one-month immersion in belly dance in its homeland; Egypt, Kirsty was lucky enough to study with master Egyptian male belly dance instructor Tito Seif, and will be sharing that knowledge with her new students. “Tito is incredible! His dynamism, mastery and energy is hard to keep up with. Learning with him enriched me as a dancer but also prompted me to want to consciously expand who belly dance classes are made available to." - Kirsty
